How to Massage Your Scalp

Whether you’re about to get your braids done, are wearing them or have recently taken them off, massaging your scalp regularly is something you and your hair can benefit from. In the later part of this article, we will teach you, in 6 easy steps, how to massage your scalp.
Benefits of Scalp Massage
Among others, the good thing about scalp massages is that it can be done at any time. Watching TV? Do a scalp massage. Washing your hair? Perfect time for scalp massage! Regardless of the surroundings, scalp massages can be done just about anywhere. All you need are your hands or fingertips, for that matter, and oil though not necessarily.
There are also numerous hair health benefits attributable to the daily massaging of your scalp. The pressure which is applied to the scalp boosts blood circulation to the roots, thus, strengthening them and promoting hair growth. The continuous rubbing motion on your scalp also soothes and relaxes the mind and body, effectively reducing stress levels and increasing your body’s ability to grow hair.
Now that you’re aware of the benefits of a scalp massage, find out how you can incorporate this hair-growing procedure into your daily lifestyle. Here is one way you can massage your scalp.
How to Massage Your Scalp
  1. Formulate your scalp massage oil. You can do so by mixing normal hair oil with an essential oil or use it straight out of the bottle. Adding essential oils to the mixture can help you tackle your own hair problems such as hair fall, dandruff, etc.
  2. For a warm scalp massage, ‘heat’ the oil by placing the oil in a bowl and the bowl on hot water. The oil should be warm and comfortable for you to touch.
  3. In order to improve circulation to the head, tilt head downwards and brush hair. Make sure to brush the ends first if you have long hair to prevent excessive breakage from occurring.
  4. To begin the massage, dip the tips of your fingers in oil and massage your hairline near the temples. Press firmly and massage in small circular motions. Make sure to leave your nails out of it!
  5. Move on to other parts of your scalp, continuously wetting your fingertips with oil as you go. You can focus on one section on each side of the head for an even distribution of the oil and massage.
  6. Keep massaging for at least three minutes daily.
That’s it! Combine this with a nutritious diet, and you’re on your way to a healthier head of hair.
